“Baby, it’s COLD outside”, in Chicago that is!! If you are hosting a winter Chicago wedding, why not have your guests enjoy a wonderful warm soup for the first course of your wedding dinner? When a bride and groom of mine could not narrow down their favorite soup in their catering tasting I recommended we serve both! Above you can see they served the two soups in cute clearless mugs with a handle with a mini salad with goat cheese rolled in nuts.
Some of my favorite hot soups for weddings are cream of mushroom, butternut squash, lobster bisque or tomato bisque. What about even serving a tomato bisque soup with a mini grilled cheese on the side and a small green salad? You can have so much fun with soup on your wedding day and your guests will love the warmth of the soup on a cold winter night.
“One whiff of a savory aromatic soup and appetites come to attention. The steaming fragrance of a tempting soup is the prelude to the goodness to come. An inspired soup puts family and guests in a receptive mood for enjoying the rest of the menu.” Louis P. De Gouy, The Soup Book
