I am so excited to introduce to you our intern, Brittney Reecy. Brittney started with Engaging Events back in December and she will be working with us through the busy summer months to learn the Ins and Outs of Wedding Planning.
Below is a little information from Brittney about her background and how she made her way to be on the Engaging Events Team. She is going to be blogging once a week about her experiences and the cool things she loves about wedding planning.
“Hi everyone! I’m Brittney Reecy and I am Engaging Events by Ali’s Intern. I grew up in a small town outside of Peoria, Illinois and I just started my senior year at Columbia in downtown Chicago. I am graduating next fall with a degree in Marketing and Communications. I guess you can say I have always been in love with weddings. When I was little my friends and I would set up pretend ceremonies. Yes, sometimes I even played the groom. As I got older I realized if I wanted to go after something like this, I needed to be in the heart of a big city. Living in Chicago is definitely a change, but I absolutely love it. There’s always something to do and new people to meet.
The story of how I became the Engaging Events intern is quite amusing. I called and emailed Ali for about four months sending her my resume and wanting to set up an interview but at those times she was not hiring. Then, while volunteering at the first annual Wish Upon a Wedding Blissful Wishes Ball, I got to finally meet her in person. She interviewed me on the spot and now, here I am, doing what I dreamed!
What I love about weddings is that each one is different, and reflects each couple in their own way. They are a combination of everything that makes me happy in life: friends, family, love, and celebrating times together. It’s a day that a couple will remember for the rest of their lives, and the ability to help make it perfect, to me, is truly an awesome thought.”
