Happy Fourth of July

Happy Birthday America! Happy Fourth of July! This is one of my favorite holidays of the year. How are you spending your 4th of July? Make sure to cool off with this awesome White Sangria drink garnished with blueberries and strawberries.

White Wine-Berry Sangria

1 bottle dry white wine (I used Sauvignon Blanc)
1 cup lemon-lime soda
1/2 cup raspberry vodka
1/4 cup brandy
chopped strawberries
raspberries
blueberries

In a pitcher, combine wine, soda, vodka and brandy.
Put a few raspberries and a small handful of chopped strawberries into the bottom of each glass and muddle. Fill glass with ice, then top with sangria and a few blueberries. Stir.

Want to add even more fun to your drink? Add in some watermelon stars to your drinks by cutting out watermelon with a small star cookie cutter.

Our friends at Sunset posted this super fun idea of putting stars in your lawn using flour. What a fun and festive way to catch your guests attention as they arrive to your 4th of July barbecue.

1. Use a craft knife and a metal ruler to cut a star-shaped stencil out of a large piece of chipboard or cardboard.
2. Mist the patch of grass with a spray bottle of water.
3. Place the stencil on the grass and, using a sifter or large strainer, sprinkle a very small amount of white flour into the stencil.
4. Carefully remove the stencil and dispose of the excess flour. For a longer-lasting star that can be walked on, use spray or marking chalk. To find suppliers, search the Web using the key words “spray chalk.”

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July!
