Alex and Vikram had a beautiful destination wedding in Punta Mita, Mexico in August but knew they wanted a formal Chicago wedding reception with family and friends. Their October reception was held at the elegant, city-chic venue, the Chicago Illuminating Company.
The groom’s family hired us at Engaging Events by Ali to design and plan the event after working together to plan the groom’s sister’s wedding (Sangeeta and Steve). Alex and Vikram wanted an outdoor feeling and loved the idea of a tented dinner outdoors. Chicago Illuminating Company is tucked away in the South Loop with a beautiful courtyard and clear tent. The couple immediately fell in love with the venue when they toured the space.
The couple provided a little direction on the feel of the wedding and on colors, which were vibrant fall colors of cranberry, wine, dusty cedar and a touch of light coral. I loved how they also wanted my design touch and wanted to be surprised on the wedding day with how the flowers and design all came together.
And come together it did! The event was elegant, black tie and fun. Following a traditional Indian dinner, the Opal Staples Orchestra dazzled the guests with wonderful live music. It was a lovely evening out with good food, great conversation and fun dancing all night to celebrate the newlywed couple.
