Hemali and Pavan’s Morgan Manufacturing wedding was a celebration of love, culture, color, and fun. They are both professionals who grew up and live in Chicago, so they wanted an industrial, cool and different venue in their hometown. The venue also needed to accommodate their guest list. The large spaces and venue options at Morgan Manufacturing were the perfect fit.
“The venue itself is gorgeous, and we didn’t want to overdecorate it. We wanted its industrial, rustic feel to come out,”
Hemali and Pavan are self-proclaimed foodies. We had two tastings with Gaylord to balance the menu just right with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. They also love donuts, so we got donuts from three different bakeries to have a fun donut station in addition to the wedding cake.
The wedding felt fun and relaxed. We made sure no guests were rushed from event to event and had an extended cocktail hour where guests enjoyed Indian and International cuisines both passed and at stations.
The wedding emphasized color, from the couple’s outfits to the decor. The bride and groom wore traditional Indian clothes for the wedding ceremony. The bride’s sari was not the traditional red wedding sari but a colorful sari of gold, orange, blues and a touch of reds. The bride then changed into a traditional green and pink langa and the groom chose a custom blue tuxedo.
The reception decor’s pops of pink, yellows, cranberry, blues, and turquoise continued the color, plus natural herbs and plants mixed in to the rectangle guest tables. The overall feel was vibrant and a perfect fit to their personalities.
WEDDING PLANNER’S FAVORITE DETAILS FROM ALI
When I met with Hemali and Pavan, I knew right away we would have fun working together to accomplish their goal of having a memorable and unique event.
The day ended up full of unique touches. We had a magician during the cocktail hour which entertained guests. Hemali and Pavan wanted to do a non-traditional favor, so they opted to have a caricature artist after dinner for guests to have a fun take-home memory of the wedding.
I also love their commitment to creating a great time for all of their guests. The bride and groom love 90’s hip hop, so we began with Bollywood and fun dance music, but then we did not want to scare away the older couples. I recommended during planning that we do an “after-party” in another room at the venue with fun late night snacks for the late night revelers.
As a really special moment, I am so glad that we put time into the schedule for Hemali and Pavan to have pictures in their second outfits on the rooftop of Morgan Manufacturing. It has a stunning view, especially when the Chicago skyline is lit up at night.
